Alan Hardacre is both the editor and a contributing author for this 2025-2029 edition, the fourth in a sequence that started in 2011 (see page XIII). Alan has worked in varying capacities with the EU institutions and EU decision-making for over 20 years. He is currently a partner at Advocacy Strategy, a consultancy focused on helping clients build public affairs structures, processes, capacity and knowledge. Prior to that he worked in the private sector as a lobbyist, having previously worked for the European Institute for Public Administration (EIPA) in Maastricht and as a lobbyist for the Confederation of British Industry in Brussels. Alan has also consulted for Brazilian, Thai and African business groups, and UN bodies, on public affairs and communication strategies in the EU and beyond. Alan continues to teach public affairs at several universities around the world. Alan holds a BA (Hons) in Modern European Studies from Loughborough University in the UK and a DEA de Science Politique from the Institut d’Études Politiques de Lyon in France. In 2008 he was awarded his PhD in International Economic and Political Relations from Loughborough University.
