John Harper Publishing, based in London, was founded in 1999 and now publishes mainly in the area of EU careers, administration, history and politics. We are an independent, family-run publishing house, and not part of any larger group.
Our oldest continuously published title, The European Parliament, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2015, and a 9th edition appeared in 2016.
A very familiar title to younger EU officials is The Ultimate EU Test Book – the market-leading preparation book for candidates for EPSO selection competitions for jobs in the EU institutions. First published in 2005, the book had to be entirely redesigned to reflect the change to psychometric testing and competency-based assessment introduced by EPSO in 2010; it is now regularly revised and available in Administrator, Assistant and Assessment Centre editions.
John Harper himself was in the 1980s a staff writer and editor for the Keesing’s group of publications, and has contributed to numerous political reference books. Before setting up John Harper Publishing, he was head of publishing for Cartermill International and Financial Times Healthcare. He continues to lead John Harper Publishing and, as befits a small, independent and highly specialised publishing house, works directly with all his authors.
