Maria Linkova-Nijs is the Executive Head of Policy and Strategy at ACEA, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association. With over 15 years of experience in EU public affairs, reputation management, and broadcast journalism, Maria has worked across various organisations in Brussels, including trade associations, think tanks, and public affairs consultancies. At ACEA, Maria leads a team of advocacy and communications professionals responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives that influence policy to support the EU automotive sector’s transition towards zero-emission mobility. Before joining ACEA, Maria led the communications team at the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic), the largest trade association in Brussels. In this role, she worked on campaigns and developed political messaging to advance the interests of the chemical industry in the EU. Maria draws insights from disciplines such as digital marketing and behavioural science to refine communication strategies and enhance policy influence in Brussels. She shares her knowledge and experiences on her LinkedIn blog, where she explores topics like the use of artificial intelligence in public affairs. Maria holds a master’s degree in European studies from the Catholic University of Leuven.
