Privacy Statement

The Ultimate EU Career Development Toolkit allows you to manage your personal performance development plan. It is an opt-in service, allowing you to address your self-assessment, ask for feedback to peers and colleagues, and to completely unsubscribe from the system at any moment. This service is offered by John Harper Publishing, and it is associated with the book 'The Ultimate EU Career Development Book' written by Jan De Sutter.

What information do we collect and what for?

In order to provide you with useful information, we collect only a minimal set of data.
  • Registration information. We need to identify you, in order to prevent other persons from accessing your data. For this, we need a username and a password. You are free to choose any username, so it is not required to enter your real name or email address.
  • Personal Development. The data collected for your self-development can be changed at any time.
  • Session cookies. We do not collect cookies for marketing purpose or site usage, and do not pass on cookies to third parties. Your sessions will be identified with a unique variable that is passed on with every page request and is disposed of after your visit.
  • Log files. Log files allow us to record the usage of the site. They contain no personal information, nor information about which other sites you have visited. They allow us to improve the service by knowing its usage, and are processed anonymously.

How long do we keep your data?

We keep your data as long as you are registered. We delete the information immediately after you requested your unregistration.

Who can access your data?

Only you have access to your data. Peers and colleagues you request for feedback on you have no access to your data. The data that has been collected through your peers and colleagues is only available in an anonymised way by means of averages that are calculated by the system. Our systems administrators only have access to anonymized data for the purpose of keeping the service running. They are submitted to the legal obligations of the European Data Protection Directive, and must identify themselves (login/password) for these operations.

Safeguarding your data

Your identification data (username, password) is transmitted securely over the network to our web server. Your password is stored in an encrypted format so not even our system administrators have access to it.
